Setting Product Sets for Accurate Invoice Quantities

If you sell products as sets on your website but want the exact number of products included in the set to appear on the invoice, follow these steps:

1. xConnector settings

Enable the option to read metafields from Shopify:
Go to xConnector - Profile - Preferences - Automation and activate Read product metafields.

2. Shopify settings

From the Shopify admin panel, navigate to Settings > Custom data
In the Metafields section, click on Variants
Click on Add definition.

  • Name: Enter set-of
  • Namespace and key: Enter xconnector.set-of
  • Select type: Single line text
  • Save the changes.

Example how to add a metafield:

This metafield will be displayed for each product variant in Shopify and should be filled in with the number of units included in the set.

Example:

  • Selling  a product variant in Shopify named "Set of 5 Basic T-Shirts - Organic Cotton for Men".

  • Filled in the metafield with the number of products in the set, which is 5.

  • Received an order for 2 sets of t-shirts

  • Invoicing the two sold sets, the invoice will display 10 t-shirts for Quantity.

Setting Unit of Measure for Accurate Invoicing

If you want to automatically include the unit of measure for products on the invoice, you have three options:

Option 1: The invoice will include a default unit of measure set in the billing service configuration in xConnector.

Check your invoice service settings in xConnector - Profile - Preferences - Connected services - click on the invoice service - Invoice preferences - Unit measure

Option 2: If inventory management is enabled in the billing platform and configured in xConnector, the invoice will automatically include the unit of measure defined in the billing service based on the product code. Check here the settings for inventory management.

Option 3: Based on a metafields.

Add a new metafield at the product level and fill it in with the unit of measure for each product (or product variant): kg, pairs, liters, milliliters, etc.
